Overview of the Model Battery Energy Storage System Law

Free Virtual Event

Hosted by Rockland Municipal Planning Federation and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) Clean Energy Communities Program

As New York shifts electrical generation towards an increasingly diverse mix of small- and large-scale renewable sources, upgrades in our energy transmission, distribution, and storage systems are also needed. One of the key elements of this transformation will be the deployment of Battery Energy Storage System, or BESS, facilities. This course will introduce some BESS basics, address New York’s policies and programs in clean energy development, and provide an overview of the Model BESS Law, a customizable and comprehensive template zoning law.
