FAQ

  • What is HV Climate Solutions Week+?

Sustainable Hudson Valley invites and encourages businesses, organizations and municipalities to hold events that address climate solutions during a shared time window in September. This brings higher impact and visibility to all of the events. We promote these events through this central website and events calendar, along with a traditional and social media campaign. That’s it in a nutshell.

HV Climate Solutions Week+ is designed to promote actionable climate solutions in the Hudson Valley through a diverse array of high quality events (large or small, virtual or in-person, indoor or outdoor) that could include: lectures, concerts, art shows, festivals, education programs, field trips, hands-on activities, technology demos, project showcases, workshops, theater and classes. Each event should have a climate solutions aspect.

  • Why is this important?

The last UN IPCC climate report has added yet more urgency to implement solutions to our climate crisis. New York State’s landmark CLCPA, or Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, along with many other local efforts are moving towards actionable solutions. Our window of opportunity to act is closing. HV Climate Solutions Week+ gives the public opportunities to learn more, connect with other concerned citizens, and engage on a deeper level.

  • When is it?

For 2024, HV Climate Solutions Week+ will go from September 13 to September 29, encompassing 3 weekends and 2 weeks.

We also accept events that fall slightly before or after this window.

  • Where is it?

Events take place both online and at various venues and sites throughout the central Hudson Valley: Columbia, Greene, Ulster, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Sullivan, Rockland, and Westchester Counties. In 2023 there were events in 27 town and cities spread across 7 counties, as well as many virtual events.

  • Is there a fee to post an event on this website?

No. Posting your event and our promotion of your event and the series as a whole are free. There are no fees to participate. However, each Event Host is responsible for managing their own events, and taking part in promotion of their own events. We cannot register participants for your business or organization’s event or make any other logistical arrangements. Each event is the sole responsibility of the organization producing it.

  • How can I get involved?

If you are part of a group or organization (or even an individual) that is interested in hosting an event for HV Climate Solutions Week+, you can click here to submit your event or events. Submitting an event does not guarantee approval for inclusion in HV Climate Solutions Week+, but we will respond to your submission and follow up either way. We encourage the submission of high quality events with a strong climate solution element. In person or interactive events are preferred wherever possible.

  • What if I have more questions?
