The Town of Highlands will never forget the floods that devastated our community in 2023. With limited warning and resources, we did our best to organize and keep each other safe. Now we have the opportunity to plan for the next surprise and connect with resources we didn’t know existed. This community conversation will feature Jessica Kuonen of New York Sea Grant and will touch on communications and planning tools to help communities predict and prepare for floods. We will also learn about MyCoast NY, a tool for collecting and viewing crowd-sourced photos of flooding, and the Hudson Valley Flood Resilience Network for local government representatives. Gather with neighbors to reflect on community flood resilience.
