Lunch & Learn #4: Environmental Justice: Following the Money

Virtual Panel

Hosted by Sustainable Hudson Valley

Federal and state climate policies give serious priority to the historically marginalized communities that have the most to lose through climate change - and the most to gain in terms of securing resources to chart their own future. Environmental justice funding under the Inflation Reduction Act and New York’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act can help communities with energy security and affordability, better mobility, improved building stock and local business opportunities, and this funding can be leveraged to make neighborhoods more comfortable and attractive places to live. The Federal Justice40 initiative has funded ten Environmental Justice Technical Assistance Centers to help local communities navigate these funding opportunities. WE-ACT, West Harlem Action for Environmental Justice, is the Center for our region. This webinar will look at the realities of small Hudson Valley cities and towns, and priority funds that communities can use to advance environmental justice, access to clean energy, resilient neighborhoods and local ownership of assets.
