Beyond Danskammer: How You Can Impact NY’s Energy & Environment Landscape

Virtual Event

Hosted by Beyond Danskammer and Communities for Local Power

Earlier this summer, Danskammer Energy withdrew its application to build a new fracked gas plant on the shore of the Hudson River, in Newburgh, NY. This victory was the result of a multi-year campaign with thousands of supporters, including many organizations, elected officials, and businesses, plus many dedicated volunteers. As we close the chapter on Danskammer and transition to Beyond Danskammer, we’ll be showcasing other campaigns being led by coalition member organizations.

Please join us to learn about a variety of issues, from a variety of presenters, including:

  • History of Danskammer Point and the potential land rights claim for Indigenous peoples (Overlook Mountain Center)

  • PFAs in Newburgh’s water supply (Newburgh Clean Water Project)

  • PCBs in the Hudson (Scenic Hudson)

  • Climate Superfund Site Bill (NYPIRG)

  • Iroquois fracked gas pipeline expansion (Food & Water Watch)

  • NY HEAT Act (Alliance for a Green Economy)

  • Utility Justice (Communities for Local Power)

  • CO2 fracking in the Southern Tier & the push to ban it (Frack Action)

  • Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act (Beyond Plastics on behalf of UAct)

  • Ulster Co 70% by 2030 (Ulster County Legislator Manna Jo Greene)

We look forward to sharing an evening with you, to ally-build and learn about ways you can impact NY’s energy and environment landscape!
