FAQ

  • What is Climate Solutions Week?

Sustainable Hudson Valley is encouraging businesses, organizations and municipalities to hold events that address climate solutions. We will then promote those events through a website and calendar, along with a traditional and social media campaign. That’s it in a nutshell.

HV Climate Solutions Week is designed to link and promote actionable climate solutions in the Hudson Valley through a diverse array of high quality events (large or small) that could include: lectures, concerts, art shows, festivals, education programs, field trips, hands-on activities, technology demos, project showcases, workshops, theater and classes. Each event should have a climate solutions component to them.

  • Why is this important?

The last UN IPCC climate report has added yet more urgency to implement solutions to our climate crisis. New York State’s landmark Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act along with many local efforts are moving towards actionable solutions. Our window of opportunity to act is closing. HV Climate Solutions Week gives the public opportunities to learn more, connect with other concerned citizens, and engage on a deeper level.

  • When is it?

HV Climate Solutions Week 2023 was September 16-24th, 2023. We expect that the dates will be similar for 2024.

  • Where is it?

Events are scheduled both online and at various venues/sites throughout the Hudson Valley: Columbia, Greene, Ulster, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Sullivan, Rockland, and Westchester Counties. In 2023 there were events in 27 town and cities spread across 7 counties.

  • Is there a fee to post an event on this website?

No. Posting and promoting are free. There are no fees to participate. However, each group is responsible for managing their own events, and taking part in promotion of their own events. SHV cannot register participants for other organization’s events or make any other logistical arrangements. Each event is the sole responsibility of the organization producing it.

  • How can I get involved?

If you have a group or organization that is interested in holding a climate solutions related event during this week, go to hvclimatesolutionsweek.org and register. Registering an event does not guarantee approval for inclusion in HV Climate Solutions Week. We are encouraging the production of high quality events with a climate solution element to them.

  • What if I have more questions?

There is more information in the ‘Hold an Event’ section. You can also contact SHV’s Outreach Coordinator, Chrisso Babcock at communitybuilding.s.c@gmail.com. If you are interested in being involved but have more detailed questions, we would be excited to connect with you.
